- Existing embryos and cross-border material handling; not a statement that a shipment is permitted or accepted.
- An advertised service or clinic acceptance policy is not proof of legal eligibility.
Obtain agreement at both ends
A courier booking is not a clinical acceptance decision. Obtain the sending facility’s release conditions and the receiving clinic’s written acceptance of the specific embryos and records before arranging transport.
Identify who has authority over the stored material and whether the relevant people consent to transport and the intended use. Existing donor material or different consent terms may require additional review.
Connect the records to the shipment
Ask the two facilities to agree the inventory, material identifiers, freezing and laboratory records, relevant screening documents, consent and handling requirements. Let the facilities identify which documents are actually required.
Determine what certification, translation, customs or regulatory documentation applies to the particular route. We have not verified a universal national export/import checklist for every origin and arrangement.
Allocate responsibility for each handover
The sender, courier and receiver should identify collection, transport, receipt, verification and incident-reporting responsibilities. Ask how temperature/handling records and identity checks are documented.
Clarify delay, damage, failed acceptance, return and insurance or liability terms. The legal effect of those terms requires review; a package’s word “transport” is not a complete service definition.
Receiving embryos is not approval of every use
Storage acceptance, a frozen transfer and a surrogacy arrangement are separate decisions. Confirm medical suitability, current legal eligibility, additional consent and parenthood questions for the intended pathway.
Check receipt, storage, thawing, testing if proposed, transfer and coordination charges separately. Transport was explicitly excluded in the supplied Tulip cooperation-price image; do not assume a received-embryo package pays the courier.
