IVF Success Rates in Kyrgyzstan: How to Read the Evidence

Learn what a clinic percentage measures, why live birth differs from a positive test, and which data would make a treatment discussion more useful.

AT A GLANCE
  • There is no independently audited clinic success-rate dataset in this directory.
  • A percentage is meaningful only with its outcome, denominator, patient group and period.
  • The best next step after an unsuccessful cycle is a clinical review, not a promise of a different result.

First ask what “success” means

A positive pregnancy test, a clinical pregnancy seen on ultrasound and a live birth are different outcomes. A website can use the word “success” while referring to any of them. Ask for the definition before interpreting the percentage.

Then establish the denominator. A rate per cycle started includes a different group from a rate per egg retrieval or per embryo transfer. A transfer-only statistic does not show the experience of patients whose treatment did not reach transfer.

For example, “40 births per 100 transfers” and “40 births per 100 cycles started” are different statements even though both can appear as 40%. These are invented arithmetic examples explaining definitions, not results from a Kyrgyz clinic.

Check who the result describes

Relevant context includes age, use of own or donor eggs, treatment type, the time period and the number of cases. A clinic-wide figure combining different situations cannot predict one person’s outcome.

Ask whether the rate describes one transfer or a cumulative result from several transfers associated with an egg collection. For cumulative figures, clarify the follow-up period and which treatment stages and patients were counted.

Small samples can make percentages unstable. A change in the number of births in a small group can change its reported rate substantially. Ask for actual counts and an explanation of uncertainty, rather than selecting the highest headline.

What this website can establish locally

The providers in our directory publish different amounts of outcome information. Kyrgyzstan IVF has not obtained regulator-validated, consistently defined live-birth results for the listed institutions. We therefore do not publish a league table or a national average.

Some provider pages describe high success rates or outcome guarantees. Those are marketing or contract statements until the supporting definition, data and terms are examined. A financial refund condition is not a promise that treatment will result in a child.

For a clinical consultation, ask the responsible specialist to explain which evidence is relevant to your records, which factors can be assessed before treatment, and what remains uncertain. More services or a larger website percentage do not establish a better plan.

Request the evidence behind a figure

A useful data request

  • What outcome is counted: positive test, clinical pregnancy or live birth?
  • Is it per cycle started, retrieval, transfer or several linked transfers?
  • Which patient group, period and number of cases does it cover?
  • Does it separate own eggs, donor eggs and different age groups?
  • Was it checked externally, and where can the source be read?

HFEA’s UK clinic data illustrates why definitions and patient mix matter. Its published UK results are not evidence of a Kyrgyz clinic’s performance, and UK inspection findings cannot be transferred to overseas facilities.

If a cycle is unsuccessful

Ask for the complete cycle summary and a follow-up appointment. Review the stages reached, laboratory records, relevant clinical findings and the reasons for any proposed change. A different plan should come with an explanation of the expected benefit, limits, risks and additional costs.

“More testing” and “more add-ons” are not outcomes in themselves. Ask what clinical question each proposed service answers and what evidence supports using it in your situation. The PGT guide explains one commonly advertised example.

Consider counselling or other emotional support alongside the medical review. Take time to understand alternatives and obtain copies of your records if you want an independent opinion.
